Her breathing quickened, shallow and uneven. Her lips were pressed in a thin, tight line. The space where her vintage Mustang usually sat now echoed with its absence. She blinked rapidly, trying to clear her vision.

She walked towards the curb, peering up and down the street. It was ridiculous. Her driveway was her driveway. No one could just...take her car. The blood seemed to drain from her face.

"What in the world..." she began, her voice trailing off. She pulled her phone from her purse, her fingers clumsy and unresponsive. She needed to make a call.
