Sarah chewed the inside of her cheek as she approached the overflowing chest in her mother's storage room. It had been years since she'd thought about those endless hours of homework, the pressures of grades, the social anxieties of being a teenager. Now, the past was staring her in the face. She could almost feel the familiar flutter in her stomach, the feeling she got before a big test.

The room felt stifling. Sunlight struggled to penetrate the dusty windows. Her breath hitched as she reached for the handle.

She found herself backing away slowly. No. She didn't want to do this. But she knew she had to. She took a deep breath. Slowly, she pulled open the lid. A thick cloud of dust erupted, and a wave of memories washed over her.
