He stared at the screen, the published article taunting him with its stolen glory. His hands felt clammy, his grip tight on the mouse. The layout, the fonts, everything… it was his work. He’d poured his soul into it, meticulously crafting each sentence. Now, the byline declared another author.

He rose from the chair, a trembling in his limbs. The room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in. He paced the small apartment, his footsteps echoing in the silence. The rhythmic thump of his heart throbbed in his ears.
