Gemotions

The attic was a forgotten world. I took a deep breath before I pushed the door, but the air felt thin and stale. My skin prickled with goosebumps. I wished I had brought my dog, even though he was a total scaredy-cat.

A collection of old photographs lay scattered across the floor, faces staring up at me from the past. I felt a strange sense of… unease, as if I was intruding on something sacred. My mouth felt dry.

One photograph showed a young girl, maybe ten years old, holding a doll. The girl's eyes seemed to follow me. I suddenly wished I hadn't come up here alone.
