Gemotions

The weight of the mail was oppressive. Sarah was already late for her meeting and she didn’t want to go in a bad mood, but there, tucked amongst the bills, was a birthday card. She flipped it over; no name, just her address. It felt wrong.

She stood in her driveway, the world suddenly seeming to spin. She clutched the card so tight her nails drew blood. The air became thin, hard to breathe. Her vision blurred, and she felt a wave of nausea.

She crumpled the card, throwing it to the ground. She wasn't going to the meeting. She turned and ran back inside, slamming the door. The world was shrinking, and she was trapped.
