Gemotions

David stared at the invitation, which lay on his desk. He found himself avoiding it, like it was a live grenade. The glossy paper seemed to mock him, the elegant font mocking the messy life he had built. He swiveled in his chair, staring out the window, his jaw clenched.

He started to bite at the inside of his cheek, a habit he hadn't realized he still had. He opened and closed his hands, as if he wanted to wring something out of them. A deep, heavy feeling settled in his chest. A sudden urge to call his therapist surged over him.

He hated the thought of seeing those people. He really hated it.
