Gemotions

As the invitation sat on the kitchen counter, Jessica started to feel the familiar prickle of heat rise up her neck. Her fingers fidgeted, drumming a nervous rhythm against the tabletop. She couldn't focus on anything.

She made herself a cup of tea, then immediately forgot about it. She re-read the invitation, her eyes darting across the words as if she was afraid she'd miss something important. She kept going back and forth, from the couch to the window.

She had to get out of the house.
