The laptop felt heavy in Sarah’s hands, the plastic warm against her palms. A cold sweat beaded on her forehead. She’d found the account completely by accident, a suggested friend on her own, rather public profile. Her stomach was doing flips. She hadn’t expected to see a different version of Liam, the one he clearly felt he had to keep hidden.

She clicked on the profile picture – a blurry, poorly lit photo of him with friends she didn’t recognize. Her breath hitched. The username… a silly, almost childish handle, completely unlike the serious, intelligent young man she thought she knew. Her fingers hovered over the password reset button. Should she?

A tremor went through her as she typed in his birthdate, a desperate shot in the dark. The screen flickered. A flurry of emotions washed over her, an almost dizzying cocktail of curiosity and apprehension. The page loaded, and she felt a strange pressure behind her eyes.
