Gemotions

A cold sweat slicked down Daniel’s back as he sat at the kitchen table. He was going over the albums that had been his uncle’s. They were filled with familiar faces and stories he’d heard a thousand times. Except, now, they didn’t quite match up.

He felt his stomach clench. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous habit he hadn't realized he had until that moment. The photographs depicted his uncle, a man he'd always known to be a dedicated family man, laughing with a woman who was clearly not his aunt. He swallowed, the lump in his throat like a stubborn stone.

He couldn't shake the sensation that the world was tilting on its axis. He glanced at the clock, then back at the photographs. The truth stared back, unblinking. It was an assault to all he'd believed was true.
