The air in the library felt stagnant, thick with the scent of aged paper and forgotten history. Sarah traced the edges of the photograph with a trembling fingertip. It depicted her aunt, who had always been a stern, humorless woman, in a playful dance with a stranger. Her heart was beating rapidly, a frantic rhythm against her ribs.

Her mouth felt dry, and she struggled to swallow. Every fiber of her being screamed that this wasn't possible, this couldn't be true. She had to sit down. She had been taught that her aunt's life was a tale of sacrifice. The photograph threw this entire narrative into question.

She felt a cold dread creeping into her bones. The library, once a place of comfort, now felt like a cage. She needed air, she needed space, she needed answers.
