Gemotions

The old house felt hollow, echoing with the silence of the past. Emily, perched on the floor, sorting through the boxes. She could feel her cheeks flush. She felt a constant, prickling sensation in her skin.

She had always known her mother as a woman of profound grace. The photos, however, showcased her mother's wild youth. There were pictures that showed her mother in settings that weren't mentioned and with people who were never discussed. She didn't know how to react.

Her hands shook as she picked up another picture. The woman in it, her mother, seemed like a stranger. The room suddenly felt very small and confining, and she wanted desperately to flee.
