Gemotions

The sharp, metallic clang of the wind chime outside abruptly ceased, replaced by a deep thud. A tremor ran through Sarah’s body. She froze mid-sentence, the words catching in her throat as she stared at the wall of her living room. Her body had an overwhelming sense of dread.

Her neighbor, Mrs. Petrova, had that giant weeping willow that hung so ominously over her roof. Sarah had a new roof put on just last year and that willow looked like it was aiming directly for it.

She walked slowly to the door, her legs felt like jelly. With a shaking hand, she unlatched it. The sight that greeted her took her breath away. The weeping willow was down. And it had indeed landed partially on her roof.
