Gemotions

The parking lot seemed vast, each empty space mocking my procrastination. I’d circled the building three times already, delaying the inevitable. My skin prickled with a mixture of anticipation and dread. I could feel the thud of my heart in my chest.

He appeared at the door. "Good to see you, Emily," he said, his gaze steady. His tone was level, but my breath caught in my throat. I couldn't help but notice the subtle lines around his eyes. He'd changed.
