He stared at the password-protected document on his laptop screen. Sweat slicked his palms, making it hard to grip the mouse. The spreadsheet, meticulously crafted, detailed the sum—a shockingly large amount of money. He wasn’t sure how to feel.

It was his wife, Sarah’s, secret account. They'd always shared everything. Or, at least, he'd thought so. He clicked the little "X" in the corner, a sudden wave of nausea washing over him.

His heart hammered against his ribs. He stood up abruptly, pulling the laptop closed and shoving it onto the desk. He needed air. He walked to the window, took a long, shallow breath, and watched the wind rustling through the trees. The familiar view suddenly seemed foreign.
