He watched the email notification blink on his phone, the subject line screaming the bad news. Liam clenched his jaw, the muscles in his face tightening. He stood up abruptly from his cramped dorm room desk and began pacing the small space, his long legs covering the same ground repeatedly. The cheap linoleum floor felt cold under his bare feet. He stopped pacing and picked up his phone, then put it down, then picked it up again, the screen reflecting his own agitated face. His future, he realized, was suddenly a vast, unknown country.
