The digital clock on the bedside table mocked Liam with its steady, unwavering pulse. He sat bolt upright, the laptop’s screen casting an eerie glow on his face. The file, open and waiting, was titled “My Dearest Amelia.” He’d found it by accident. Pure, dumb luck.

His palms were slick. He read the first few paragraphs and found a twisted reflection of their relationship, embellished with… with dangerous, violent undertones. He felt his face grow hot, his breath coming in shallow gasps.
