The attic air was thick with the scent of dust and forgotten things. Ethan felt a prickling sensation on the back of his neck as he surveyed the scene. Cobwebs clung to everything. This discovery, a sealed metal box, seemed to pulse with a hidden power. He felt a deep sense of unease, a feeling like he had stumbled onto something sacred, something he wasn't meant to find.

He traced the outline of the box with his fingertip. It was heavy, and it felt cold. His breath came in shallow, rapid pants. He considered just putting it back. The idea that he might know something he didn't remember made his head spin.

But the compulsion to open it was too strong. He fumbled with the clasp, his hands clumsy. He lifted the lid, his vision blurring slightly. The contents were obscured by a cloth, tied with a faded ribbon. He felt a wave of dizziness wash over him.
