"Another round?" The bartender's voice snapped Amelia back to reality. The bar was loud, the music thumping a monotonous beat, and the familiar taste of the whiskey burned her throat. She found herself trying to escape. Her gaze drifted over the dimly lit space. Suddenly, it stopped. A man, sitting at the end of the bar, had her "Celestial Cartography" design inked across his chest.

She felt a tightening in her chest, a physical reaction she couldn't explain. She hadn't thought of that design in years. It was part of an era she was desperate to forget. She felt an echo of an emotion she had been denying.

She wanted to run, to vanish. But she couldn't look away.
