The weight of the denial settled on David’s shoulders. He leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. The room seemed to shrink, closing in on him. He felt a sudden, almost overwhelming, yearning for something intangible. He thought of his grandfather's workshop, a sanctuary filled with the scent of sawdust and the quiet hum of machinery.

He could almost see the tools hanging on the wall, the way his grandfather's hands moved with skill and precision, the satisfaction in his eyes as he created something from nothing. He remembered the feeling of accomplishment as he helped, however clumsily, with a project. He could almost feel the rough wood under his fingers.

He closed his eyes, and the memories washed over him. He found a sense of comfort in the thought of the workshop, a feeling of security that he realized he had been missing. It had been years since he had gone. The workshop was a refuge he had forgotten.
