Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the interview room echoed with a faint, low hum. David leaned back in his chair, trying to relax. He closed his eyes, and a wave of warmth washed over him. The smell of the freshly brewed coffee in the room was a catalyst, bringing to mind the aroma of his grandmother's kitchen, where she would always be brewing a fresh pot.

He recalled his graduation and the feeling of accomplishment. He could almost feel the weight of the mortarboard on his head. He found himself smiling at the memory.

His friend, Ben, sat across from him. David saw him adjusting his tie, just like his father always did before a big meeting. He felt a pang of something he couldn't name as he thought of their shared history. It felt so recent.
