Gemotions

The familiar sound of the record player filled the room with the melancholic strains of a classic jazz tune. The mellow melody reminded Daniel of his youth. He found himself wishing he could go back, recapture the feeling of being young, carefree, and in love.

He heard a hushed conversation from the patio. He peered through the window and saw his husband, Alex, on the phone, his face hidden in shadow. His voice was a low murmur, the words lost to the wind.

He walked outside, suddenly feeling chilled. Alex quickly ended the call. He turned, a flicker of something unreadable in his eyes. "Just a friend," he said, his voice barely a whisper. The music seemed to fade.
