He stood there, frozen, the morning sun warming his face. The tow truck, a monstrous presence, was already halfway down the block, his old Ford disappearing from view. He had been planning on fixing it up, restoring it to its former glory. He'd even bought the paint and a new set of tires, but he never got around to it.

He recalled the day he bought it, fresh out of college, feeling invincible and ready to take on the world. The aroma of oil and gasoline. The way the leather seats felt under his hand. He blinked, the image of his younger self driving the car along a winding road, the wind playing with his hair, was so real.
