She found herself back in her childhood bedroom, a space she hadn't occupied in years. The air was thick with the scent of lavender and old paper. Dust motes danced in the fading sunlight filtering through the floral curtains. Her eyes drifted over the familiar objects – the chipped porcelain doll on the shelf, the worn teddy bear propped against a pillow.

She reached out and picked up a faded photograph. Her younger self, grinning wildly, holding a trophy almost as big as she was. It felt like a different life. A warmth spread through her chest, a bittersweet ache.

The silence was deafening. The ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway seemed amplified. She sat on the edge of the bed, running her fingers over the embroidered quilt, each stitch a reminder of her grandmother. A single tear tracked down her cheek.
