Gemotions

The card was tucked away at the bottom of the mail. David held it, examining the elegant calligraphy that spelled out “Wishing You the Best.” His breath hitched. He knew nobody who wrote like that. It made him feel a little foolish and a little amused.

He walked to the back door and looked out at the garden. It was his father's garden. He remembered the feel of the soil, the smell of the earth. He knew his father would have loved the card.

He went inside and started making tea. He wanted to do something. He wanted to feel something. The tea tasted like time passing.
