Gemotions

The dusty attic was a time capsule for Leo. He sifted through old boxes, the air thick with the smell of forgotten things. A faded photograph of his childhood home, a worn copy of his favourite book, each object a whisper from the past. He was searching for something, a small velvet box, a reminder of a bygone affection he once thought was forever.

He opened a box, and his breath hitched. Inside, nestled amongst tissue paper, was a scarf. He recognized it instantly: the emerald green silk, the intricate embroidery. He had given this to… who? It was a gift he gave to his last girlfriend. He remembered the thrill of buying it, the eagerness to see her face when she received it. He was filled with a sense of wonder as he held the scarf.

He heard a voice from the bottom of the stairs. “Leo? Are you up here?” It was Chloe, his current girlfriend. He rushed to the doorway, and was met by a familiar face: a woman with the same scarf on. Chloe was wearing his gift.
