Gemotions

The musty smell of the library filled Amelia’s senses as she browsed the shelves. She ran her hand along the spines, feeling the texture of the different covers. She picked up a well-loved copy of "Wuthering Heights," its cover tattered and worn.

She opened the book and began to read. Halfway through, a small, square of paper fell out. It was a theatre ticket, creased and faded, for a performance of "Hamlet."

The date on the ticket was from many years ago. It had been her father's handwriting, too, she was sure. She remembered him taking her to see the play when she was a child. He’d loved Shakespeare, and he’d always made her laugh. She closed her eyes.
