John crumpled the invitation in his hand, a frustrated gesture. He tossed it in the trash. He was fine. His life was great. He didn't need any reminders of the past.

He went to the garage and started tinkering with his old car. It was an old muscle car he’d always wanted. He loved the smell of gasoline. He loved the sound of the engine. He loved the feeling of speed. It took him back to a place he didn't want to leave.

He felt the familiar thrum of the engine in his chest. The invitation. He reached over and picked up the phone. Maybe...just maybe.
