The gentle sway of the porch swing, the rhythmic creak of the chains, transported Carol to summer evenings spent on her grandparent's front porch, listening to the crickets chirp. The air held a faint scent of honeysuckle, a fragrance that always triggered a cascade of memories. She paused and stared across the yard, her gaze landing on her son’s room. She had just found his phone lying on the kitchen table.

She hesitated, her fingers hovering over the screen. What if she uncovered something she wasn't ready to see? She had a fleeting image of her own angsty teenage self, the clandestine notes passed in class, the stolen moments of rebellion. She unlocked the phone.
