Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator was the only sound in Michael's apartment. He stared at the two invitations: "David's Concert" and "Emily's Potluck." He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture he often did when feeling uncertain. He grabbed a pen and began to make lists on a notepad, but he kept getting distracted.

He wandered into the living room, his gaze settling on an old guitar leaning against the wall. He hadn't touched it in years. He remembered sitting on the porch with David, playing music until the stars came out, singing along loudly. He picked it up, the wood rough against his calloused fingers.

He thought of Emily and their shared love of food and laughter, the cozy evenings spent around a table filled with homemade dishes. He ran a hand over the guitar and smiled to himself, before heading to the kitchen.
