Gemotions

The cramped elevator felt like a time capsule, each creak and groan echoing with the ghosts of forgotten moments. As the air became thick with the scent of manufactured plastic, Amelia found herself picturing her old bedroom. The wallpaper with the faded butterflies, the way the sunlight streamed in through the window each morning.

"This is ridiculous," Michael, her co-worker, said. He was tapping impatiently on his phone.

Amelia ignored him, her gaze fixed on the flickering emergency light. Her mind drifted to summer evenings spent on her porch, the air filled with the scent of honeysuckle and the laughter of her friends. She could almost feel the cool evening air on her skin, the warmth of the setting sun.

She smiled faintly. Those days seemed so far away, so impossibly perfect, compared to this confined space.
