Gemotions

The spreadsheets swam before her eyes, blurring the edges of her already difficult day. Jessica found herself longing for something else, something she couldn't name. A sense of disconnection hung in the air.

She heard Mark from the mailroom mention Camp Willow Creek. The name was like a whisper of a distant shore. A wave of a feeling flooded her, and she suddenly was back on the banks of the lake.

"I grew up there," she said, her voice soft and full of wonder. Mark smiled back. The present receded, and for a fleeting moment, she was again filled with carefree joy.
