Gemotions

The eviction notice was a rude intrusion, disrupting the quiet peace of the morning. I felt a familiar pang in my chest, a feeling of sadness I couldn't explain. I walked over to the window, gazing out at the familiar cityscape. The apartment across the street had just changed ownership, and I was being asked to do the same.

The air felt thick, heavy, as I moved through the rooms. The worn rug in the living room, a hand-me-down from my grandmother, held the faint scent of her perfume and the imprint of her footsteps. The patterns seemed to swirl and shift before my eyes, mirroring the swirling thoughts inside my head. I closed my eyes, trying to remember the warmth of her hand in mine.

I paused in the doorway of the bedroom, my gaze drawn to the faded floral wallpaper. It was the same wallpaper that had adorned the walls since my first day living here. I looked back, remembering the joy and excitement when I had found the perfect place to make my own.
