Gemotions

The starkness of the official document hung in the air, a unwelcome guest. I sat down on the floor, surrounded by boxes I hadn't unpacked. This was my sanctuary, filled with treasures and items that meant something to me. The scent of the cardboard and tape filled the air, a reminder of transitions and changes.

The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. I looked towards the window, remembering the times I would sit on the windowsill, watching the world go by. The view, the people, the hustle and bustle of the street below, all felt like distant memories.

I picked up a small wooden carving of a bird. My grandfather had given it to me when I was a child. The smooth wood felt comforting in my hand. He's been gone for many years, and this simple object reminded me of him.
