Gemotions

The attic air hung thick and heavy, smelling of dust motes dancing in the late afternoon sunbeams. Clara felt a strange pull as she climbed the creaking stairs, a lightness in her chest she hadn't anticipated. It was her grandmother's house, untouched for years, and now, hers and Leo's to sift through. She ran a hand along a cobweb-draped trunk, her fingers catching the intricate carvings. A smile tugged at her lips.

Leo called up from the bottom of the stairs, "Find anything good?" His voice echoed, the sound bouncing off forgotten furniture. Clara shook her head, but her gaze lingered on the trunk. It was a treasure chest, really. Opening it, she found not jewels, but bundles of letters tied with faded ribbon. A cascade of emotions swelled inside her as she lifted the first one. It was written in a familiar, looping script, a love letter from her grandfather to her grandmother.
