Gemotions

The restaurant was a time capsule. The red vinyl booths, the checkered floor, the smell of fried food. She always felt a kinship with this place, a place that mirrored her own past. The project she had been working on for months was on display at the conference. The same model; a perfect replica of the one she had painstakingly built, a miniature city constructed entirely of sugar cubes. Her throat tightened. The other engineer kept rattling on about collaboration, but she was elsewhere, lost in the echoing hallways of a forgotten place, a dream.
