The email notification on Chloe's laptop screen made her heart skip a beat. The university, her sanctuary, her safe place, was going to disappear. A coldness spread through her.

She found herself wandering around her apartment, searching for something, anything, that would remind her of those precious years. Her fingers found an old, worn-out dorm key. She held it tightly, feeling the cool metal against her palm.
