Gemotions

A note slipped under the door. It was from the new family down the street. “Dear Mr. Williams, we are hoping to grow a little vegetable garden. Our lot doesn’t get enough sunlight. Would you be willing to share some of your yard?”

He re-read the note, then reread it again. He could picture himself as a kid, his hands in the dirt, the sheer joy of growing something from nothing. He scribbled a quick reply, "Yes. Absolutely. Come on over. I'll even help." A lightness he hadn't felt in years filled his chest.
