The email arrived, subject line: "Your essay is published!" Liam stared at the message on his phone, a strange mixture of disbelief and… well, something else. His heart did a little flip. His essay, the one about learning to ride a bike after breaking his leg, was featured in an online publication.

He wandered into the garage, where his old bike leaned against the wall. Dust covered the seat, the tires were flat. He touched the handlebars, remembering the feeling of the wind whipping through his hair, the shaky starts, the exhilaration of finally getting it right. He recalled the sheer terror of falling, the slow, painful recovery.

A lump formed in his throat. He felt the phantom pain in his leg, a familiar sting that reminded him of the fight to move again. He felt a profound sense of connection to his past, to that younger version of himself who had faced the challenges with such courage.
