"So, what do you think of your book, Mr. Sterling?" the reporter asked, her voice oozing insincere sweetness. Richard, staring out the window, remained silent. He took another sip of his expensive whiskey. The interview was a set-up, a desperate attempt to get him to endorse the goddamn thing.

The biography, "Richard Sterling: Beyond the Billionaire," was nothing but a gossipy tabloid article masquerading as serious literature. The author had dug up every scandal, every rumor, and twisted it into some sensational story. He felt a deep, profound resentment.

He turned to the reporter, a coldness in his eyes. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of a reaction. He wouldn't play their game. He would walk away and let the book fail.
