The tiny, cramped cafe seemed to shrink with every passing minute. James, face flushed, slammed his fist onto the table. His business deal, the one that could change his life, was resting on his arrival. He rejected the suggestion to reschedule, the idea of admitting defeat was unbearable. He glared at the television, its cheerful news anchors broadcasting the weather. He would just wait. He'd wait until the plane was ready. He'd sit and drink lukewarm coffee until the bitter end. He refused to look at the other possible travel options. His gaze became fixed on the automatic doors, willing them to open and let him escape this confinement.
