“Forget it,” Elena snapped at the exasperated employee, gesturing dismissively towards the alternative flight options. Her daughter’s dance recital was the only thing that mattered. She had to be there. And this airline was going to get her there. She stalked away, her steps quick and decisive, a tight knot forming in her stomach. She refused to acknowledge the growing sense of dread. She found a quiet corner, sat down, and fixed her gaze on the departure board. She’d not look away. She'd keep this going, however long it took. She'd get there.
