Gemotions

He saw the vacant spot first, then the note flapping on the front door. "Towed." The word was like a slap in the face. His face hardened. He wouldn't give them the satisfaction of showing any emotion, not even surprise.

He went inside, and he took a long shower. He stood under the hot water for a good, long time, as if trying to wash the whole situation away. When he eventually turned the water off, he stared at his reflection, a ghost of defiance in his eyes, and he refused to think about anything but the day's events.
