The email felt cold in her inbox. It was from Mark, detailing the trip they had taken to the mountains. He'd described a sunny, clear day, with panoramic views. She, however, remembered the chilling mist, the dampness that seeped into her bones, the almost complete lack of visibility.

A frown etched itself onto her face as she reread the email, her fingers drumming on the desk. He hadn’t even mentioned the fog. The air in the office suddenly felt too thin. She wanted to reply, to correct him, to hammer home the truth of her memory.

Instead, she deleted the email. It was a pointless exercise, she thought, this disagreement. But her chest tightened, a quiet defiance rising in her. He could have his version. She would keep hers, hidden away.
