Gemotions

The florescent lights of the clinic buzzed relentlessly, mirroring the frantic hum in her head. She was supposed to be in perfect health. Her records, however, indicated she was battling an aggressive form of lupus. The doctor, a young man who looked barely out of medical school, kept suggesting she take the prescribed medication. She would not. The pills were poison to her.

Her breath hitched in her chest. She hated being told what to do.

"No," she said, her voice strained. Her eyes darted around the room.

The doctor pressed, urging her to cooperate. She did not even consider the idea. "I want the original files, or I'm walking out of here."
