Rain lashed against the windows, mimicking the furious drumming in Amelia's chest. "Cancelled?" she spat, the word a small, poisoned dart. The party planner, a woman named Beatrice with a relentlessly cheerful demeanor, withered slightly under the force of Amelia's glare. Beatrice stammered, offering apologies like stale bread. Amelia just turned and walked towards the door, the floral arrangement in the lobby looking particularly pathetic under the circumstances.
