Gemotions

The package was small, rectangular, and addressed to "Margaret." Daniel, the current resident, knew there hadn't been a Margaret here since he moved in five years ago. He was halfway to work when he saw it. He pulled over to the side of the road, and backed up.

He considered leaving it. What did it matter? It wasn't his problem. But something inside him, a hard knot in his chest, refused to let it go. He got out and retrieved the package.

Back home, he sat it on the kitchen table, next to the mail. He looked at it. He was going to sort through the mail, after he'd had a coffee. Coffee first. He made himself a coffee.
