It was a physical act of defiance. The tiny, innocuous-looking profile picture. The sly little bio, the curated images. Everything about it screamed "I don't need you." Emma clenched her fist. She felt a deep, slow burn inside.

She stood in her kitchen, staring at the empty coffee pot. She’d promised to bake cookies with her daughter, Chloe. But now, all she wanted to do was scream.
