Gemotions

The diner was always a safe space for Finn, but not today. Across the booth, Leo, once his shadow, sat staring at the menu as if it were written in a foreign language. "We used to come here *every* Saturday," Finn had said, his voice a little too loud. Leo hadn't even blinked.

He was going to get through to Leo. He would. Finn had spent weeks getting this reunion set up. Finding him, following him, building up the courage to say something. All for nothing, it seemed.

"Remember the cherry pie?" Finn asked, pushing the words out between clenched teeth.

Leo finally looked up, a puzzled expression on his face. “I don’t think I’ve ever been here before,” he said, then returned his focus to the menu. Finn’s hands tightened around his coffee cup, his gaze locked on the rim. He wouldn't budge. He wouldn't give in.
