Gemotions

The silence was starting to get to Sarah. She kept suggesting ideas - trying to force the doors open, calling for help again. David, however, remained rooted to the spot, his face a mask of disapproval. He hadn't said a word in the last hour.

She offered him the bottled water she'd brought. He stared at it, then at her, and then away. He made a tight sound in his throat, a sound like a small animal.

He shifted his weight. His shoulders were stiff, his neck muscles bunched. He looked like he'd swallowed a lemon.

"We could be here all night," she said quietly. He didn't react.
