Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator was the only sound in the kitchen. Sarah, her face flushed, stared at the letter spread across the worn countertop. Her mother, the epitome of practicality, had written this. It was a letter of resignation.

She had to clean out the house, of course. She’d told herself she was just going to be helpful. That was the only reason she was here. The letter, however, had completely changed her mind. It was a betrayal.

Sarah clenched her teeth, a bitter taste rising in her throat. She had built her life on certain assumptions. She needed the truth. And she wasn't going to quit until she found it, even if it meant tearing the whole place apart.
